CLAVERACK – A Poughkeepsie man was involved in a fiery crash with serious injuries in Claverack just after midnight on July 14, 2021.  The crash occurred at the intersection of State Route 9H and State Route 66.

State Police say their initial investigation indicates that 21-year-old Dean Beverly of Poughkeepsie was driving a 2007 Chevy Silverado pickup traveling north on 9H when he ran a red light at the Route 66 intersection and struck a Volvo operated by 32-year-old Hudson resident Seth Kritzman.  The Volvo then struck a Toyota Highlander SUC operated by Lorie Pell, a 56-year-old resident of Hudson.

Beverly’s truck, police say, left the roadway, overturned, and caught on fire.  Troopers arriving on the scene broke the glass and pulled Beverly from the flaming wreck. Arriving firefighters extricated Seth Kritzman from the Volvo.  Both Beverly and Kritzman were transported to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries.  Pell was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

Dean Beverly, accused of causing the accident, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated.

State Police say the investigation is ongoing.
