NEWBURGH – A gun buy-back program will be held in the City of Newburgh on Saturday, July 10 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the community center at 401 Washington Street.
Those turning in guns will receive gift cards for up to $150, depending on the type of gun surrendered.
Weapons must be unloaded and brought in plastic or paper bags. They must be transported to the site in the trunk of a vehicle.
Active or retired law enforcement officers and licensed gun dealers are not eligible to participate.
No identification is required and no questions will be asked of anyone who drops off a gun.
“We are committed to reducing gun violence in the “City of Newburgh and gun buy-back programs are only one means to that end,” said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler. “Every illegal gun that we remove from the streets makes Orange County a little safer.”
City Police, the DA’s office and State Police will be involved in this buy-back program.
