WASHINGTON – Five infrastructure projects sponsored by Congressman Antonio Delgado (D, NY-19) have been included in the INVEST in America Act proposal in the House of Representatives.

Just over $6 million has been targeted for Kingston’s Safe and Accessible Midtown Kingston project.

“The project will connect affordable and senior housing complexes to business districts and will improve two dangerous railroad crossings,” said Mayor Steven Noble. “The importance of this project cannot be overstated and is one that the City of Kingston could not complete on its own.”

Moe than $6.2 million has been earmarked for replacement of the Bridge Street Bridge over Schoharie Creek in Schoharie. “This is a critical bridge for emergency services, school bus routes, postal service, daily commuter traffic, farm traffic and local commerce,” said Daniel Crandell, Schoharie County DPW commissioner. He noted the state Department of Transportation has found the bridge to be “structurally and functionally obsolete and its closure will result in a 14-mile round trip detour.”

There is also $3.6 million for Ulster County Route 7&8, Route 299 road repaving in the towns of New Paltz and Gardiner; $800,000 for Ulster County electric bus charging infrastructure; and $3.2 million for reconstruction of the intersection of Route 7, Route 23 and Maple Street in Oneonta into roundabout configuration.
