MIDDLETOWN – Middletown City Court Judge Richard Guertin will be running for a slot on the Ninth Judicial District Supreme Court this fall. He ran unsuccessfully last year.
Guertin, a registered Conservative, also ran on the Republican line in 2020. He believes he has a better chance at winning later this year.
- “I got throughout the district 366,000 votes, which wasn’t enough to win but it was the highest number – I have been told that any Republican and/or Conservative candidate in the Ninth JD has ever received, so I think I start from a good base and I am going to go from there,” he said.
This year there will be five slots open on the bench – three existing positions and two new ones.
The busy district includes the counties of Orange, Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester.
