MONTICELLO – A Kiamesha man was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on bail following a series of crimes he allegedly committed in Monticello.

Charles Ellis, 28, was charged with the felonies of assault, criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of criminal mischief.

Monticello Police responded to a panic alarm at the Route 42 Liquor Store at 9 Forestburgh Road in the village at 7:19 p.m. on Friday.

Ellis had entered the store, allegedly grabbed a bottle of liquor and threw it at a former female acquaintance who was working there. The bottle shattered a glass case with other bottles of liquor. The victim received a severe laceration to her right foot from the shattered glass case.

She was transported to Garnet Medical Health Center Catskills in Harris for treatment.

Ellis fled from the liquor store and allegedly went to the woman’s residence in Monticello and broke several windows before fleeing.

Monticello Police, assisted by State Police, located Ellis at his home and took him into custody.

He was arraigned and remanded in lieu of $10,000 cash bail, $20,000 bond, or $40,000 secured bond.
