NEWBURGH – Days after Newburgh City Comptroller Todd Venning was promoted to city manager, the city has begun a nationwide search for a new comptroller.

The appointing authority is the city manager, but Mayor Torrance Harvey said as, in the past, the city council stands ready to offer input in the selection process.

“That was completely to the discretion of the city manager because he is the point of authority and we appreciate that. That is a courtesy and we like to help out and chip in and help out if necessary and if the city manager wants input, we are always ready to do that,” he said.

The salary range for a new comptroller is $110,946 to $123,366.
