POUGHKEEPSIE – Voters in Poughkeepsie approved a $108 million spending plan on Tuesday night.  324 voters were in favor, while 130 people voted against the spending plan.

School Superintendent Dr. Eric Rosser was pleased with the endorsement of his proposed budget.  “As always we are thankful to the community for its support of both propositions. With the approval of Prop. 1 we will be able to go deeper in our commitment to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students. With the approval of Prop 2, we will be able to establish a capital reserve fund, which will allow the district to save monies for future capital improvement projects.”

School board President Felicia Watson was re-elected, garnering 354 votes.  “For the past six years, I have served as a public servant. As one of five board members, through governance, I look forward to continuing the work of meeting the needs of our students in the provision of high-quality education in conjunction with our Superintendent,” adding “I would like to thank the community for supporting the 2021-22 budget so that we can make this goal a reality.”

Carmen “Fatimah” Martinez was elected to the board with 361 votes.  Martinez replaces Michelle Martinez-Leffert.

The capital reserve fund authorization passed with 329 in favor and 121 against.
