KINGSTON – As more and more vaccine doses become available in the Hudson Valley, additional personnel are needed to administer them.

At county-run sites, many staffers are training to give the shots, but in the case of Ulster County, more volunteers are needed, said County Executive Patrick Ryan.

“Much of the workforce, as many of you know, is powered by volunteering and doing that public service,” he said. “We have in the last week started offering stipend compensating folks for that work and make sure, especially in a time like this, to make sure folks are paid for that that work.”

Ryan said persons wishing to volunteer at a vaccine distribution center in Ulster County should call the health department to sign up.
