NEWBURGH – Mayor Torrance Harvey of Newburgh is the founder of 100 Men for Newburgh, a local chapter of the national 100 Black Men organization with a goal of mentoring boys and young men of color.

He wants to bring the experience and knowledge of older men together with the younger generation by holding virtual sessions with both generations in the cities of Newburgh and Poughkeepsie.

“Just to hear from them what their goals and aspirations, and hopefully, if I can get 101 men – young and old – once or twice a week to do a virtual chat, just to check in with some of our young people,” he said.

Discussing what is on the minds of the young men might point them in the right direction in terms of their paths in life and career goals, Harvey said.
