Everybody is excited for the Triple Crown Series to commence. This is the perfect time when trainers and jockeys get to boast their days of hard work, endless training, and sacrifices to prepare the perfect horse to run and dominate all the major horse races of history.

Now that the Triple Crown is fast approaching, we should take some time to get to know the race itself and the key people who take part in this momentous event. Let’s see which horses are doing the best performance pre-tournament and who are riding and training them.

Best Horses

This year’s Triple Crown Series is expected to be flocked with the best and has the most potential horses to win the trophy. We have a long list, but we chose the top four horses we think will dominate the race series.

 Essential Quality

Early this year, Essential Quality is making a buzz in the horse racing industry. He leads the early nomination for horses that are made eligible to compete for the Triple Crown. This is not quite surprising as the young horse has already held two Grade 1 winner trophies under his belt. And he’s expected to run and presumably dominate the Churchill Down this coming 2nd week of May.

Keepmeinmind

Another tough contender for Triple Crown is Keepmeinmind. He’s running closely behind Essential Quality when it comes to points in the Kentucky Derby ranking. Keepmeindmind is also a strong candidate and might come off with an incredible performance like Swiss Skydiver. If you’re thinking of betting these horses, do your homework diligently and check out some tips and advice before you lock in that bet.

Midnight Bourbon

Midnight Bourbon is a class racing horse in his league, and he has some improvements to work on, but just like any other horse, he has that running capability that possesses potential. He led and finished the Lecomte Stakes last January, and it was his first win in juvenile racing. He was also trained by the two-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer Steve Asmussen which means Midnight Bourbon might get that shot in this year’s Triple Crown series.

Life Is Good

Right from the Sham Stakes, a Bob Baffert trained horse, Life is Good has credibility on its own. He won his first Sham Stakes at 1:36.63, a very tight win against his stablemate Medina Spirit. Life is Good might have that slow burn run pace, but surely he did make it through and blazed the entire race. He’s a good horse, and with his Sham Stake win, he collected 10 points for the Kentucky Derby qualifier.

Best Trainers

Now, it’s time for the trainers- the focal person in producing quality horses we can see on the track.

We know their names, and we know their track records when it comes to training horses. We hear Todd Pletcher, Brad Cox, Steven Asmussen, and the most decorated and one of the most controversial horse trainers, Bob Baffert.

These gentlemen have a reputation on their own. They are popular; they have the experience, possess a specific skill in spotting a good horse, and instinct to identify which horse will win a race. All of these trainers hold many trophies and recognition in the horse racing industry. Recently, Brad Cox just earned his Trainer of the Year award beating Bob Baffert closely.

Best Jockeys

As they say, great horses need great riders, they are one of the factors on why we pick winners of our own when we bet. And that’s what these jockeys proved. Irad Ortiz Jr, Victor Espinoza, and Mike Smith are just some great jockeys who earned multiple awards and trophies in leading great horses in being champions.

Recently, Irad Ortiz Jr was the recipient of the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey three times in a row. He rode Mucho Gusto in the 2019 Pegasus Invitational Cup and earned a victory.

But it’s not only Ortiz that’s worth the praise; before the pressing case of a fractured C3 vertebra, Victor Espinoza rode beautiful horse racing history. He rode American Pharaoh in 2015 and won the Preakness Stakes and consecutive wins at the Churchill Downs. Espinoza is looking forward to getting back on a horse this year if the doctors have a signal for him to have a safe race again.

Mike Smith would be a top-caliber jockey as well, and if he weren’t, he’s not eligible to ride Justify in 2019. He’s an all-time Breeders’ Cup winner and holds various recognition under his wings. Plus, Smith or also called “Big Money,” was a consistent Hall of Famer, and that for us rings a bell for being a great one.

Takeaway

The Triple Crown Series is fast approaching, and we can’t help to be excited to witness another greatness on the track. There’s so much expectation for this year’s race, a lot of great horses paired with talented jockeys and smart trainers. Fans are thrilled and excited for it to start, and more than that, they are excited and playing their luck. This year would be a great year for the horse racing industry. Fingers crossed!
