POUGHKEEPSIE – A Town of Poughkeepsie man has been arrested on charges that he illegally entered a residence in the City of Poughkeepsie through an unlocked window at about 6:40 a.m. on February 22 and stole a jacket and car keys. He then took off driving the vehicle.
Town of Poughkeepsie Police stopped the vehicle at 10:17 a.m. in the vicinity of 721 Main Street where they called City of Poughkeepsie Police to assist.
The driver, identified as Andre Campbell, 34, a town resident is a level two sex offender.
He was interviewed by city police and confessed to entering the apartment and taking a jacket and keys to the car.
Campbell was charged with the felonies of burglary, two counts of grand larceny, two counts of criminal possession of stolen property and a misdemeanor of petit larceny.
