Wappingers Falls man charged with driving with BAC more than twice legal limit

NEWBURGH – A Wappingers Falls man has been arrested and charged with a misdemeanor of aggravated driving while intoxicated after the SUV he was driving struck a guide rail and snow embankment on the Thruway in the Town of Newburgh.

The incident occurred around 12:50 a.m. on February 10.

The driver, Ronald Phillips, 51, was uninjured.

A blood alcohol test determined his BAC to be 0.18 percent, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

Phillips was turned over to a sober third party and released on an appearance ticket returnable to Newburgh Town Court.
