POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess BOCES Board of Trustees has voted unanimously to terminate the site work contractor hired for the $36.8 million capital improvement project.

The board took the action at its January 13 meeting after being notified that required insurance for CASA Builders Inc. of New Paltz (Friedlander Construction), its site work contractor, was cancelled last week, as well a number of concerns regarding the contractor’s performance and schedule.

BOCES officials have asked the Casa Builders Inc.’s surety to step in and arrange for the site work contract to be completed in as timely a manner as possible.

The $36.8 million Dutchess BOCES capital improvement project will eventually enable the Salt Point Center, Alternative High School, and Career and Technical Institute to be located on one campus.

It is anticipated that this development may delay the project’s completion date beyond the anticipated opening in September 2021.
