POUGHKEEPSIE – City police were called to Edgar Street in the City of Poughkeepsie around 1:30 Tuesday morning for reports of gunshots.  Responding officers determined that vehicles and houses had been struck by bullets.  Officers were unable to locate any shell casings.

After daylight, officers returned to the north end of Edgar Street to investigate further.  Several residents told the officers that they heard the shots but did not see any vehicles or pedestrians leaving the area.

Bullets were recovered from the door panel of a sedan parked on the street and another SUV that was parked in the driveway of 15 Edgar Street.  The SUV’s rear driver side window was shot out and the bullet was lodged in a seat of the vehicle.

As neighbors gathered in the street to assess the damage, a homeowner recounted the event for Mid-Hudson News.  “The volley of shots was very loud.  I called the police immediately.”  He said the police arrived “right away,” but the shooter was not located.

Police are asking that anyone with information regarding this or any crime to call the TIPS line at 845-451-7577.
