KINGSTON – By a unanimous vote, the Ulster County Legislature Tuesday night approved the county’s 2021, $333.8 million budget.

The final vote came after two hours’ worth of amendments that lawmakers voted on with little to no discussion.

Following the final vote, County Executive Patrick Ryan saw the bipartisan support of the “vast majority” of his spending plan as “an overwhelming vote of confidence after one of the most difficult years in decades.”

The budget includes no property tax increase, no layoffs, and comes in 2.6 percent lower than the 2020 budget.

“At this time, we must do everything within our power to ensure that we are delivering the best services at the best value to taxpayers and that we can emerge from the pandemic with a continued focus on taking care of each other during this moment of great need.”

Ryan will now review the budget before making a final decision on it.
