KINGSTON – Mayor Steven Noble says an increased police presence will hopefully end the violence in the City of Kingston.

There have been a number of shootings including one this week in which a man was wounded, and an alleged assailant was captured.

Noble said the violence must be curbed.

“By having an increased police presence, we are trying to dissuade people from doing the type of actions that have taken place recently. Thankfully in (Wednesday’s) shooting, there was no one killed, but someone was injured,” he said.

State Police and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office have been assisting city police in the investigations.
