GARDINER – A two-car crash on Bruynswick Road in the Town of Gardiner claimed the life of one of the drivers.
The accident occurred around 7:20 a.m. today (Wednesday) when a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by Thomas Griffin, 32, of the hamlet of Wallkill was traveling north and crossed into the opposite lane of travel and struck a 2007 Honda Accord driven by James Phelan, 68, of New Paltz.
Griffin, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Phelan was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center. Police said he was wearing a seatbelt.
The investigation is continuing and police ask anyone witnessed the crash to0 call them at 845-691-2922.
