Valero employee shot while chasing shoplifters

WALLKILL – On Monday, August 31, at 11:50 pm, Wallkill Police responded to reports of “shots fired” at the Valero gas station at 28 Carpenter Avenue in the town.

Responding officers found the victim, a 19-year-old male employee of Valero with a gunshot wound to his left arm.  The employee, a resident of the Town of Wallkill, was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.

The victim told detectives that he was chasing several individuals who were shoplifting when one of the subjects shot him.

Wallkill police detectives are asking for anyone that has information about the incident to call them at 845-692-6757.
