Truck driver arrested for hit-and-run involving state trooper

TOWN OF KENT – A New York State Police patrol car was side-swiped On August 21 by a tractor-trailer that failed to stop after the collision. The incident occurred on Interstate 84 in the Town of Kent.

An investigation led to the August 25 arrest of Quito Pagan, age 46, of Randolph, MA, for Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Motor Vehicle Crash, a class A misdemeanor.

State Police determined an XPO Logistics truck from Orange County, NY, was involved in the collision.  XPO Logistics safety officers found the damage to the trailer which was unreported by the operator.  XPO Logistics was highly cooperative with the investigation.

After reviewing the evidence, it was determined the operator, Quito Pagan, struck the stationary State Police unit on the shoulder of the interstate and left the scene.

Quito Pagan was issued a Uniform Traffic Ticket returnable to the town of Kent Court on September 23, 2020, at 5:00 p.m.
