WAWARSING – Speed is being considered a factor in a crash on Route 52 in the Town of Wawarsing on Monday morning that claimed the life of a Liberty man.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office reported that Anthony Monzon, 19, was driving eastbound on Route 52 in a 1998 Honda Accord at around 6 a.m. when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a guide rail. The car came to rest on its side about 350 feet from the area of impact in a ditch on the westbound lane.
Monzon was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is continuing. State Police and the Ellenville Fire Department assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
