SALT POINT – The New York State Police in Rhinebeck, in conjunction with the State Police Troop K Computer Crimes Unit, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, have arrested Richard Kelly, 49, of Hyde Park, for possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child and unlawful surveillance, both as felonies.  Kelly was taken into custody on Friday, July 17.

State Police say that Kelly is accused of possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation and surreptitiously recording candid images of unsuspecting victims.  Kelly was recently listed as the men’s volleyball coach at Marist College in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

Marist has been informed by the State Police that a former part-time employee in Athletics, Richard Kelly, has been arrested and charged with possession of an obscene sexual performance by a child and unlawful surveillance in the second degree. The College unequivocally condemns these acts and is fully cooperating with the State Police in their investigation of this matter.

Kelly was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Hyde Park Court on August 4, and the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on August 18.

The investigation stemmed from a cyber tip received by the New York State Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and is ongoing at this time.  Anyone with information regarding possible crimes or suspicious activity committed by Richard Kelly is asked to contact the New York State Police at (845) 677-7300.
