WASHINGTONVILLE – In the wake of the recent vandalism at the Washingtonville 9/11 Memorial site that saw the American flagpole cut down, the president of New York Security Systems is donating an electronic monitoring system to prevent future vandalism.

State Assemblyman Colin Schmitt (R, New Windsor) orchestrated the donation, which was formally announced on Thursday.

“Mr. Allan Markoff is going to be donating a full, state-of-the-art security system at no cost to taxpayers or to the memorial committee that runs the 9/11 memorial, over $20,000 in technological equipment, cameras including that can see with a zero ambient light; they can see as if it was as bright as day in the darkest conditions,” Schmitt said.

A church in Washingtonville, another flagpole in New Windsor and a Jewish cemetery in New Windsor were also vandalized and police are investigating to determine if the same person or persons were involved in all of those incidents.
