Tankasali came home on Wednesday, July 1 to a surprise contingent of county fire departments, law enforcement, county and local officials, and neighbors.

“I was totally (and am still) in shock with the turnout and give my heartfelt thanks to all that participated.”

He also thanked his wife, Kim, “who managed to be my advocate throughout, took care of our one-year-old son and took care of the household while I was hospitalized.”

Tankasali said he has “some continued work to do to get back to 100 percent, but I am looking forward to getting back in service as soon as possible.”
