GOSHEN – Orange County expects to issue a request for proposals to sell its Camp LaGuardia property in Blooming Grove and Chester in a matter of weeks.

The county has been developing a new RFP since late last year and retired Real Property Tax Service Director and consultant John McCarey told the legislature’s Ways and Means Committee it should be sold without any improvements.

“This is the site Great Wolf has been looking at but also over the last four to six months we have a couple of other inquiries from industrial type users,” he said. “I think we should just sell it without any guarantees of water or sewer.”

The county bought the former camp for homeless men from the City of New York several years ago and has entertained other offers, none of which panned out.
