NEWBURGH – The Newburgh-Beacon Ferry across the Hudson River was put on hold several weeks ago as the COVID-19 pandemic kept everyone but essential workers at home.

The ferry was replaced by bus service between the two cities and the Beacon Metro-North train station.

But, that was not working either because of extremely low ridership and that service was terminated as well.

So, anyone who wants to cross the Hudson must drive over the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge.

When the ferry service will resume is anyone’s guess. The region is just entering phase-one of reopening. There are four phases in the plan with more businesses being added with each.
