Seven from DCC receive coveted SUNY awards

DUTCHESS COUNTY – Four Dutchess Community College students and three employees have received awards for excellence from the State University of New York (SUNY).

Gabrielle Delpizzo of Fishkill, Iridian Lucas-Garcia from Rhinebeck, Meghan Myler of Poughkeepsie, and Alyssa Poteet from Baldwin City, Kansas were among just 213 students from the 64 SUNY campuses presented with Chancellor’s Awards for Student Excellence. The award recognizes the integration of academic achievement with accomplishments in leadership, athletics, community service, performing arts, campus involvement, and career achievement. 

A SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Full-time Teaching was given to Associate Professor of Criminal Justice Barbara McArdle, who joined the College in 2008. Kelly Kohler, who has taught advanced life support at DCC for 25 years, earned a Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching. Cheryl Croft, principal library clerk and 29-year DCC employee earned a Chancellor’s Award for Classified Service.
