Number of dead from virus continues to rise in Hudson Valley

HUDSON VALLEY – Another 169 people died from COVID-19 on Saturday in the nine-county Hudson Valley/Catskill region, according to State Health Department data released Sunday afternoon.

Greene County reported the first virus-related deaths with two people passing away.

Across the Hudson in Columbia County, the death toll was 13.

Dutchess County recorded a total of 49 deaths to date.

Orange County’s death toll increased to 168.

There were 36 deaths reported in Putnam County; 297 in Rockland County, eight in Sullivan County and 743 in Westchester.

Four additional people died on Saturday at nursing homes in the region.

Ferncliff Nursing Home in Dutchess County had six deaths.

Montgomery Nursing Home had 10 deaths.

Valley View Nursing and Rehab, owned by the county, saw two additional deaths, bringing the total to 24.

Putnam Nursing and Rehab in Putnam County saw one additional death, bring the total to seven.

In Westchester County, the facilities that reported deaths include:

  • Westchester Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing – six
  • North Westchester Restorative Therapy and Nursing – seven
  • Martine Center for Rehab and Nursing – 11 (up one from Friday)
  • Cabrini Nursing Home – 13
  • New Jewish Home, Sarah Neuman – 14
  • The Wartburg Home – 26
  • Regency Extended Care Center – 30
