ALBANY – Governor Andrew Cuomo, Sunday, said President Trump should invoke the Defense Production Act, which would require companies to manufacture supplies to combat corona virus. Cuomo said right now states are competing against states for supplies and that results in higher prices.

Effective on Wednesday, Cuomo said all elective surgeries are canceled.

He also renewed his call to increase hospital bed capacity by 100 percent. That includes temporary hospitals being set up, for now in the downstate area. New York currently has 53,000 hospital beds; Cuomo wants that number doubled.

Cuomo also said New York will implement trial drug testing on Tuesday and said the FDA should start testing for COVID-19 anti-bodies as soon as possible.
