NANUET – A 75-year-old Nanuet man died from injuries he sustained in a fire that engulfed parts of his home on Wednesday morning.
Clarkstown Police said around 6:20 a.m., firefighters were called to the residence at 27 Amarillo Drive in Nanuet where they found the front part of the house engulfed in smoke and flames. Officers were unable to gain entry to search the home and fire personnel later removed Michael Mantell from the building. He was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
Nanuet firefighters were on the scene and extinguished the flames.
The fire does not appear to be suspicious and the cause has not yet been determined.
