GALLATIN – State Police are investigating the death of a German Shepherd dog found on February 2 on Silvernails Road in the Town of Gallatin.

The dog, about two years old, was found near the shoulder of the road by a local resident and reported to the dog warden who contacted State Police after noticing a bullet wound.

The New York State Human Association, headquartered in Kingston, is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for shooting the dog and dumping its body in Gallatin.

The owners lived about six miles south of the location on Stissing Road and the dog was known to run from the home.

Anyone with information is asked to call the State Police at 845-677-7379 and speak with Investigator Melilli.
