SUFFERN – Law enforcement in Rockland County have arrested a Suffern man on several charges of drug possession, possession of a firearm and criminal possession of stolen property – the gun.

Suffern Village Police Chief Clark Osborne said Friday that Gustavo Roche, 40, of 4 Prairie Avenue, was arrested following execution of a no-knock search warrant at his residence on Friday morning.

The chief said officers from the village police, Rockland DA’s Office and drug task force seized 60 grams of heroin and cocaine, prescription pills, $57,000 in cash, brass knuckles, a switchblade knife and the stolen gun.

Rockland District Attorney Thomas Walsh said the arrest of Roche will put a dent in the drug trafficking facing the county.

“Unfortunately Rockland County over 2018 and 2019 has seen a 29 percent increase in overdoses. Generally in the state there was a four percent decline and for the last year I have been saying we must deal with this crisis and I am very happy to say that this fine group of individuals is a step in denting the opioid and narcotics and other drug problems that we have in this county,” he said.

Chief Osborne said Roche is a six-time convicted felon and was remanded to the Rockland County Jail.  Click to watch news conference
