MONTICELLO – Retired Sullivan County Court Judge Frank LaBuda, Wednesday, ended the speculation that he might run for district attorney with a formal announcement that he will seek the Republican and Conservative lines in the November election.

LaBuda, who previously served as chief assistant DA, said his 37 years of service to the county as a judge, prosecutor and community leader has always placed “service above self… at the core of my life.”The former judge sees the familiar issues facing the county and society as the areas that need continued concentration.

“They issues I see are the rising epidemic of opioids, the increasing in violent criminal crime. We need to target and have effective prosecution on those crimes that affect public safety and the quality of life of folks who chose to live here in Sullivan County and raise their families,” he said.

Acting DA Meagan Galligan will be running for the top prosecutor’s slot as a Democrat in the November election.
