KINGSTON – Mayor Steven Noble announced on Monday two new leadership positions in his administration – the director of housing initiatives and the director of intergovernmental affairs in the City of Kingston.

Noting the entire region “is in the midst of a housing crisis,” Noble said the city is at “a pivotal moment” and a director of housing initiatives will assist in the expansion of the availability of safe, affordable and equable housing for all.

The director of intergovernmental affairs will serve as a bridge between the city administration, common council, county and state governments, as well as community nonprofits and private business partners, said the mayor.  “Being able to have those two new positions, we can do so within the city budget without costing the taxpayers any more doing this budget year,” he said. “For me, it is important for us to put resources where the need is and this is what we have been able to lay out over the month and a half and we have started to define our 2020 vision.”

The new positions are subject to common council approval.

Noble has not named his candidates for the two new posts.
