RED HOOK – The Red Hook Police Department is investigating a report of an attempted abduction on East Market Street in the Village of Red Hook.
At about 5:48 p.m. on Monday, January 13, a 12-year-old victim reported that he was approached by a shorter, white man with gray facial hair and possible gray hair.
The child stated the suspect was driving a blue Chevrolet pickup truck.
The victim said he was walking westbound into the village on East Market Street when the man pulled up next to him, stating, “Hi, I know your father.”
When the boy did not respond, the suspect got out of his truck and attempted to approach the youth, who fled the area.
The suspect then left heading east on Route 199.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area of East Market Street and might have witnessed anything to call them at 845-758-0060.
