POUGHKEEPSIE – Set to be a Titan for the lower Main Street area, Zeus Brewing Company is poised to open for business on January 6.  The craft brewery will offer seven different types of beers brewed on-site under the direction of Brewmaster  Amit Ram and a menu of salads, pizzas, and pasta dishes, as well as a full selection of cocktails.  The overall brewery and restaurant will be run by Jeremy Phillips, owner of Schatzi’s Pub and Bier Garden located just a few blocks away on Main Street.  According to Phillips, his father Glenn and Jeremy’s wife Bethany Phillips are the owners of the new establishment located at Queen City Lofts at 178 Main Street.

“Zeus and Queen City Lofts as a whole are another positive sign of the continued economic growth taking place in Poughkeepsie,” said Mayor Rob Rolison.  “Our family is investing in Poughkeepsie because we have witnessed the revival firsthand,” said Jeremy Phillips.  Zeus is bringing a first to the city with a rooftop bar that will be functional in the spring of 2020.  From the rooftop, patrons will have a commanding view of lower Main Street, the Mid-Hudson Bridge, the Walkway, Hudson River and the rolling hills of Ulster County.

Zeus is being welcomed to the area by the owner of the neighboring Deby Bar & Restaurant, also on Main Street.  Owner Joe Rabasco called the arrival of Zeus “Good for the area.  This is just one more reason for people to visit lower Main Street and that is good for all of us.”  “The Derby plans to carry two beers crafted at Zeus on tap,” added the neighboring tavern owner.  Attending a sneak preview of Zeus on Friday night, Tanya Harrison who works in the city said “I look forward to having dinner with my coworkers here.  The menu is perfect and the atmosphere is great.”

According to Phillips, Zeus has also created 9 full-time and more than 25 part-time jobs, not including his father Glenn who has immersed himself in every aspect of the business.  “He wants to work the front of the house, fill growlers, cook, and anything else he can do to help.  He’s an energetic retired Air Force pilot who likes to keep busy.”
