MID-HUDSON/CATSKILL REGION – Today’s freezing rain storm has shut down virtually everything in the Mid-Hudson/Catskill region.
Schools, governments and some businesses kept their doors closed because of the slippery roads. There have been some minor accidents reported.
Municipal crews have been out plowing and sanding the roads.
Hyde Park Highway Superintendent Howard Fisher said his crews “have been at work since 2 a.m. on Tuesday and has made multiple passes scraping the roads and spreading salt.”
He said they plan to be out “again ahead of today’s evening commute as well as tomorrow morning.”
Hyde Park has also experienced some flooding as a result of the storm.
