AUSTERLITZ – A 12-year-old child died following an emergency medical call in the Town of Austerlitz on December 3.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
The office responded to an emergency call around 5:28 p.m. at a Route 9 residence.
Sheriff’s deputies and State Police arrived on the scene and assisted emergency medical personnel with medical care until the Chatham Rescue Squad transported the child to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson and later transferred to Albany Medical Center where the individual died on December 6.
Sheriff David Bartlett said his Criminal Investigative Branch and the State Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the child’s death as would be done with any case where a death occurred.
