Train strikes car; driver okay

WARWICK – A slow moving Middletown & New Jersey freight train struck a car at the Forrester railroad crossing in Warwick at noontime on Wednesday.

The female driver was able to get out of the vehicle on her own and was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Warwick for observation.

Warwick Police Lt. Thomas Maslanka said the train, with two locomotives, was moving at a slow speed and was able to stop not far from the collision.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
