Long Island woman arrested for Ulster County hate crime

KINGSTON – State Police have arrested a Melville, Long Island woman on charged that she repeatedly harassed a child with special needs.

Krista Sewell, 26, was charged with aggravated harassment, stalking, and hate crime/aggravated harassment. 

She was arrested on November 7, arraigned in Lloyd Town Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail.

The arrest is the result of an ongoing investigation by State Police and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office into the repeated harassment of the child with special needs via social media sites and the US Mail.

The victim, who suffers from Harlequin Ichthyosis, which is a severe genetic disorder that affects the skin, was specifically targeted by Sewell.

Between December 2018 and November 2019, Sewell posted several threatening messages to Facebook, Instagram and GoFundMe pages that had been set up by the victim’s family.
