MID-HUDSON – With the flu season just around the corner, healthcare providers want to remind everyone to get vaccinated.

To help facilitate that, free clinics were held on Tuesday with others likely to be scheduled going forward.

The Westchester County Health Department provided free vaccinations to students attending any college Tuesday at Westchester Community College.

County Executive George Latimer said students should make their health “a priority by taking advantage of this free clinic, so you can get through finals and all those late-night study sessions.”

The county health department plans to provide more than 2,000 flu shots this fall. It has focused public vaccination efforts on people who lack the means to get vaccinated elsewhere by bringing flu shots to homeless shelters, soup kitchens and food pantries throughout Westchester.

Across the Hudson River in Rockland County, state lawmakers have teamed up with Crystal Run Healthcare is providing flu shots at no charge at the practice’s West Nyack office, also today, for children six months and up as well as adults.
