SLATE HILL – OYA Solar, a North American full-service solar developer, announced that a community solar project on Jogee Road in Slate Hill, has received a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) towards construction. The 3-megawatt (MW) Jogee Road Community Solar Farm will produce nearly 4.2 gigawatt hours annually when complete – enough clean solar energy to power more than 326 homes. The new solar farm will help reduce nearly 2,700 metric tons of carbon pollution, the equivalent of not burning nearly three million pounds of coal or protecting 3,200 acres of American forests for a year. Construction is expected to begin later this year, and the project is expected to be completed in December.

“We’re excited to be investing in Orange County with the Jogee Road Community Solar Farm. New York has become the national renewable energy leader–and that leadership is creating investment, affordable energy choices, and jobs. Solar is going to power local growth and New York’s economy in the 21st century, and Orange County is well-positioned to take advantage of that growth. We look forward to seeing this project through and delivering clean energy for New York,” said Manish Nayar, CEO of OYA Solar.

OYA Solar and the local landowners signed a lease for the solar farms to utilize an undeveloped portion of their land and in return, the local landowners will earn reliable income for 25 years. OYA Solar, with offices in New York, works with farmers and landowners in Orange County to help them receive stable and consistent revenue with solar power. The company puts landowners first because the OYA team understands that it’s crucial for landowners to understand the nuances, details, and timing of the road ahead.
