SAUGERTIES – A Saugerties woman is in the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail following her arrest on Tuesday, October 8.

Saugerties Police were called to 1016 Glasco Turnpike at about 7:40 Tuesday evening for a report of two women fighting.

Officers found Michele Flanders, 65, at that location in violation of an order of protection. She allegedly struck the victim, causing the person to fall backwards down a staircase.

Flanders was taken into custody and was brought to police headquarters on a felony charge of criminal contempt of a court order and misdemeanor of obstructing governmental administration and violation of harassment.

During processing, she punched a female officer, who sustained a minor injury.

This is the second time in a month Flanders was arrested.  On September 11, Saugerties Police accused Flanders with breaking into a neighbor’s apartment following a dispute, causing an injury. She was charged with burglary and other crimes following that incident.
