NEW PALTZ – Following revelations that Ulster County Legislator Hector Rodriguez (D, New Paltz) allegedly hitting on and harassing women while taking advantage of his public position, the New Paltz Village Board on Saturday called for him to resign.

“His conduct is far beneath what the public rightly expects and deserves from their elected representatives and we believe that his repeated inappropriate actions make him unable to effectively represent the residents of the Village of New Paltz,” the trustees said in a prepared statement.

Shortly after a report based on an independent investigation was made public late Friday, Ulster County Democratic Party Chairman Frank Cardinale called for Rodriguez to step down.

The legislator has not responded to a request for comment.
