HAWTHORNE – The Westchester County Police Marine Unit recovered the remains of a man from the Hudson River off Dobbs Ferry on Wednesday.

The cause of death and identity of the victim are under investigation by county police detectives from the General Investigations Unit, but they said the body does not match the physical description of a homicide suspect being sought by Poughkeepsie Town Police and State Police.

The remains were turned over to the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office with an autopsy pending.

County Police were notified around 2:50 p.m. that a boater had seen a body floating in the river off Irvington. The marine unit responded, located the body and brought it aboard the patrol boat.
