PINE BUSH – Past Pine Bush Fire Chief Richard Tanagretta died Tuesday from 9/11 related illness, the fire department announced on Facebook. He was 65.
“A man of great importance to our firehouse, our community, and most importantly to each individual who had the pleasure of knowing him,” the posting said. “Please keep the Tanagretta family in your thoughts and prayers”
Roy Cadoo, former member of Rescue 5 in New York City, said he had “the privilege to work side by side with him for a few years.”
In a Facebook post, Cadoo said Tanagretta was “a mentor, an instructor, a diehard biker and a good man.” He said, “No one deserves this, certainly not him.”
Service arrangements have not been announced.
