POUGHKEEPSIE – A rush hour traffic accident sent two people to local hospitals and snarled traffic in Poughkeepsie Monday morning.
Two vehicles collided on Church Street at the intersection of Market Street causing one vehicle to go up on the sidewalk, striking a woman, a Dutchess County employee walking to work.
The pedestrian and one of the vehicle’s occupants were treated at the scene by Poughkeepsie firefighters prior to being taken to the hospital by medics from Mobile Life Support Services.
Law enforcement officials from Poughkeepsie and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office were at the scene investigating the cause. Market Street at the intersection was closed for a short time until the vehicles were towed away.
