TOWN OF KENT – The 48th annual edition of the Putnam 4-H Fair wraps up today at the Putnam Veterans Memorial Park in Kent.

By the time the gates close at 5 p.m., more than 25,000 people will have participated in the annual rite of summer.

The fair features something for everyone from the Shady Grove Theater to the Master Gardeners Tent, a science and magic show, a chicken dinner, livestock showmanship, a Revolutionary and Civil War encampment and an old fashioned community auction.

At Saturday’s 4-H auction 150 items were purchased by bidders ranging from a leather office chair, Ethan Allen entertainment cabinet valued at $3,000, tickets for family movie nights, ball games at Yankee Stadium, Dutchess Stadium and Citi-Field, floral arrangements and golf outings, to antique furniture, lawn equipment, bicycles and barbecue gear to an overnight stay at the famed Pig Hill Inn in Cold Spring.
