CLARKSTOWN – A Cortlandt Manor man died a day after he was struck while trying to cross the Thruway after his vehicle was involved in a property damage accident.
State Police said Nicholas Polao, 29, pulled over on the left shoulder of the northbound highway at around 10:43 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16. While troopers were en route to the accident scene, they received reports that Polao had attempted to cross the road and was struck by a car operated by a Washingtonville resident.
Polao was transported to Westchester Medical Center where he later died.
The driver of the other car was not injured and showed no signs of impairment, police said.
The investigation is continuing.
