MID-HUDSON – Temperatures well into the 90s are expected to hit the Hudson Valley this weekend and for those who do not have air conditioning or other means of keeping cool, counties and municipalities are opening up cooling centers on Saturday and Sunday.
Residents should check with their local government websites or call their municipal buildings to find out where those facilities are.
Those with air conditioning will likely be staying indoors for much of the day. Those with swimming pools will undoubtedly be in them while others enjoy a dip in an area lake. Still those with access to neither can turn on their lawn sprinklers and run through them while some cities may turn on fire hydrants with sprinklers to allow kids to cool off.
Health officials say one thing to remember is to keep hydrated. Drink lots of water but avoid alcohol. Don’t stay in the sun too long.
