NEW PALTZ – The Town and Village of New Paltz have had several complaints of vehicles having their windows broken and personal property stolen, Police Chief Joseph Snyder said.

He advised people not to leave any personal items in plain view including pocketbooks, handbags, cell phones, tablets, cash and any other things of value.

In the recent larceny cases, items were left in plain view on the front or rear seats.

Snyder said people should be aware of their surroundings and to report any type of suspicious activity or people who may be walking around vehicles and looking in windows.

The advice applies to car owners and citizens everywhere, not just in New Paltz.
